Citizens Advice response to BEIS’ consultation on SEC changes to enable the provision of SMETS1 services by the DCC

Citizens Advice response to BEIS’ consultation - Full response  240 KB

The Government seeks to amend the Smart Energy Code (SEC) to enable the provision of SMETS1 services by the DCC. These services seek to address a specific limitation of SMETS1 meters. Namely, the fact consumers may lose some functionality upon switching with a SMETS1 meter.

In principle, Citizens Advice supports such activity, provided it is delivered well and cost-effectively. This consultation response highlights our support for particular amendments to SEC as well as other considerations Government should pay heed to.
