Use of AI within the energy sector call for input response 142 KB

In this response to Ofgem’s call for input on AI within the energy sector we outline the risks that AI poses to consumers and the regulatory approaches we believe could be taken to minimise those risks.

The response focuses on the implications that AI use may have on fairness and ethics, outlining the proven impact of AI in other markets on consumers with protected characteristics. We also outline the potential benefits of consumer duty style regulation which can keep pace with technical advances and adequately monitor the impact AI is having on consumers. Finally, we look at the impact AI is likely to have on access to redress, and the important role that consumer advocates can play in levelling the playing field for consumers.
