Letter to BEIS responding to its call for evidence on the electricity capacity market

Letter to BEIS responding to its call for evidence on the electricity capacity market 269 KB

Consumers benefit from secure energy supplies. One of the key policies that delivers this is an electricity capacity market, which encourages investment in adequate volumes of power generation to keep the lights on.  Small scale generators have historically been excluded from this market as they received public support through a separate scheme - Feed-in Tariffs (‘FITs’). BEIS is proposing to close the FITs to new generation from March 2019.  In its absence, we suggested that BEIS needs to give consideration to how those smaller generators can be rewarded through the capacity market in future.
