Citizens Advice Preston , in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, are offering people affected by cancer free, impartial, and confidential information and advice on a range of issues, including welfare benefits, money matters, and charitable grants.
We are looking for a Macmillan Welfare Benefits Adviser to join our team. This role is perfect for a dedicated individual with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for helping individuals and families navigate financial challenges during difficult times.
As part of this role, you will provide a holistic advice service on welfare benefits, employment, housing, and other relevant areas to people affected by cancer. Advice will be delivered face-to-face in hospital settings, at local Citizens Advice office and over the phone.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive welfare benefits advice to people affected by cancer, including help with applications and navigating appeals.
- Deliver additional advice on housing, employment, and general financial matters.
- Manage your own caseload efficiently, ensuring timely and accurate support for clients.
- Work to project targets, contributing to the overall success of the partnership program.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in line with confidentiality and data protection requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues, external stakeholders, and Macmillan Cancer Support to provide the best possible outcomes for clients.
- Attend regular supervision and training to support your professional development.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Have an understanding of the impact of cancer on individuals and families.
-Possess experience in managing caseloads in a client-facing advice role.
- Have experience in welfare benefits advice work
- Be self-motivated, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be confident in using IT systems and digital platforms to manage and deliver advice.
- Be committed to delivering high-quality advice to clients in a busy environment.
